Which destinations did Russians visit the most in Turkey in 2024?
In 2024, the number of Russian tourists visiting Turkey increased by 6.3 per cent compared to the previous year and reached 6.7 million.
According to the news in TurkRus, 3.9 million of Russian tourists headed to Antalya, while the share of this city in Russian tourists coming to Turkey increased to 58 per cent.
In the Aegean region, interest in holiday resorts such as Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye increased, but the proportion of Russian tourists choosing this region remained at 6.1 percent. The majority of holidaymakers preferred Fethiye and Oludeniz as they offer more affordable holiday opportunities.
According to representatives of the tourism industry, Turkey will maintain its leading position in terms of Russian tourists in 2025 and will probably exceed the pre-pandemic record. There is already a huge increase in early bookings for the 2025 summer season. Tour operators state that the demand for May and June is particularly intense.
However, price increases also stand out as a factor to be considered. Tour operators state that average holiday prices have increased by 10 percent in foreign currency and 20 percent in rubles. Despite this, the demand for ‘all-inclusive’ holiday packages is not decreasing. The vast majority of hotels on the Antalya and Aegean coasts are trying to keep their prices at the previous year's level, but costs for Russian tourists continue to rise due to changes in exchange rates.
